LOS ANGELES, CA – October 19, 2023: HyperloopTT, a leading transportation and technology licensing company focused on realizing the evolution of high-speed transportation has unveiled details of HyperloopTT Express Freight, its new innovative freight transport capsule system, which is set to revolutionize shipping with its speed, efficiency, and sustainability. The system was designed in collaboration with tangerine, an award-winning design consultancy which specializes in transportation design, delivering product innovation for clients around the world.

The new design, which has been illustrated in an animated video here has been based on four key drivers: loading freight as fast as possible integrating with existing infrastructure, maximizing freight volume inside capsules, and being flexible enough to cater to different customer demands. In HyperloopTT’s Great Lakes Hyperloop Feasibility Study from 2020 conducted by the firm Transportation Economics Management ( ), it was determined that an express freight option for hyperloop would be cheaper than air and truck options, while delivering goods faster and more sustainably.  Hyperloop Express Freight is entering an industry expected to grow from $260 billion in 2020 to over $484 billion in 2030.

HyperloopTT Express Freight will enable fast onboarding of freight with staggered doors for simultaneous loading/unloading, double doors on both sides, and the fastest and most energy-efficient Collins Rollerball loading/unloading system. It will integrate with existing infrastructure by retaining the DockLock principle from HyperloopTT’s passenger capsules.  Freight volume is maximized inside the capsule by lowering the floor to fit standard air cargo containers, adding a pocket door between structural ribs for more internal space, while also using a hyperloop load device. The design provides flexibility to cater to different customer demands through a configurable hyperloop load device layout tailored to the type of freight and customers’ needs.

Andrés de León, CEO of HyperloopTT said:

“Hyperloop Express Freight will fundamentally transform how goods are transported globally. By incorporating key innovations like fast automated loading systems, maximized freight capacity and flexible configurations, we have developed a hyperloop design optimized for transporting freight at unprecedented speeds at cheaper rates than currently offered by air and road. This new standard for shipping will enable greater efficiency, sustainability and flexibility in supply chains worldwide, and we are proud to be leading the way in this transportation revolution.”

Heading up the team at tangerine is Matt Round, Chief Creative Officer who said:

“What we have designed is a solution for express freight. Our research made it clear that every creative thought we had, and every design decision we made should contribute to reducing the time it takes to move freight from dispatch to delivery. Our solution is a melange of creative leaps and strict mathematical calculations.”

To date, HyperloopTT has made major strides, including building the world’s first full-scale hyperloop test facility, securing over 40 patents, and establishing the first insurance framework and safety certification guidelines for commercial hyperloop systems. In May HyperloopTT and its partners were awarded an €800 million tender to build the first commercial hyperloop in Italy, with European Union NextGenerationEU funding.
